Early last month we were in Milan attending the 55th annual Salone del Mobile Milano—the Milan Furniture Fair. With 2,407 exhibitors and over 2,900,000 square feet of floor space, this enormous event can be somewhat overwhelming (to say the least).
And while it’s easy (and fun) to get lost, the show is always a great opportunity to check out what’s trending with our friends on the other side of the pond. For example, it was amazing to see classics come back to life, such as the reintroduced Finn Juhl France Chair, as well as get up-close-and-personal with fresh designs from iconic brands (looking at you Carl Hansen & Son Embrace Chair).
But now that we’re back and it’s been a few weeks, we can’t stop thinking about what’s coming soon from HAY Furniture. In particular, the outdoor and living room furniture designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Palissade Outdoor Furniture
Available later this year, HAY’s Palissade is a collection of simple, yet eye-catching outdoor furniture. Each of the 13 distinct pieces shares the same core design and aesthetic, but possess subtle differences and angles. Designers Ronan + Erwan Bouroullec have been perfecting this outdoor furniture for the last two years, and created a collection that is as strong as it is beautiful.
The Palissade Collection will be available in three colors and is slated for release in the United States sometime in late summer or early fall. All pieces will be available at Danish Design Store.
Can Sofas + Chair
Also by HAY and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the Can Series should quickly become a hit. The Can Series—as in “you can”—are lightweight pieces that ship flat and are easily assembled at home with just a few tools. In their design notes, the Bouroullec brothers explain that “the intention is to reinvigorate the whole idea of the sofa, from something inherently complicated, to something simple, relaxed and for everyone.”
We can’t wait to offer this innovative collection!
