For a limited time, when you buy four or more Wishbone Chairs together with a Wegner CH Dining Table, Danish Design Store will take 20% off your order. This is a special Carl Hansen promotion that we’re proud to offer.
Last week Carl Hansen & Søn released the Wegner CH25 Easy Chair in a rich cherry wood. There are only 25 of these beautiful chairs available worldwide, making them some of the rarest Hans Wegner pieces in existence.
Despite this, the Cherry CH25 costs the same as the regular oak chairs: $2,885.75 on sale ($3,395.00 after tomorrow, 10/16).
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an extremely rare version of one of Hans Wegner’s original designs.
It’s so rare, in fact, that Carl Hansen & Søn hasn’t even released photos of it! However, below you’ll see the cherry finish, as well as images of the chair. The image that’s closest to this limited edition chair is the one with the baby sitting in it. Although keep in mind that the limited edition version has a natural paper cord seat.
When most people think of Hans J. Wegner, they think of his iconic pieces such as the CH24 Wishbone Chair or the CH25 Easy Chair. What many don’t know is that Wegner was also a brilliant designer of modern lighting. Even the Wegner Wikipedia page says nothing of his beautiful lamps.
In 1962—a year before he created the CH07 Shell Chair—Wegner designed “The Pendant,” an innovative hanging lamp with a sleek modern look and an adjustable length. It has been in continuous production ever since.
Wegner went on to create the futuristic Opala Series, complete with table lamps, pendants, and floor lamps.
It has been relatively difficult for the public to find these iconic designs … Until now. Recently Carl Hansen & Son teamed up with longtime Wegner manufacturer Pandul to offer “The Pendant” and the Opala Series to a wider audience.
At Danish Design Store, we are excited to announce that starting on Saturday, September 1, we will begin shipping these beautiful lamps. Pre-orders are now being accepted.
Carl Hansen & Son recently reissued the Wegner CH33 Chair, so you no longer have to scour specialty auctions to get your hands on this beauty.
Hans Wegner designed the CH33 Chair in 1957 with a solid wood frame and a veneer seat and back. The many varieties and comfortable form make the CH33 Chair ideal for dining rooms or kitchens, as well as hotel restaurants or corporate canteens.
We stumbled across this great interview with Knud Erik Hansen, managing director of Carl Hansen & Son. Thanks to Furniture Products for conducing this interview. Among other things, they talk about Hans Wegner and the Wishbone Chair, the Wing Chair and his relationship with Carl Hansen & Son. Check it out!
To celebrate the opening of the Carl Hansen New York City Showroom, we decided to go with a Carl Hansen classic this week: the Wegner Wing Chair. As you can see below, Danish Design Store owner Steen Grundahl got the chance to relax in a CH445 Wing Chair during the opening. Although … maybe he was enjoying it a bit too much? Ha. Just kidding, Steen.

Last month, Danish Design Store owner/president Steen Grundahl attended the opening of the new Carl Hansen & Son Showroom in SoHo New York City. The event was presided over by HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Crown Princess Mary.
This exclusive 6,000 square foot showroom exhibits all the classics from Carl Hansen & Son, including the Wishbone Chair, Wegner Easy Chair and more, as well as lesser-known pieces. Visitors can experience the elegant design and world-class craftsmanship of Carl Hansen furniture, and then can purchase from authorized dealers such as Danish Design Store.
Carl Hansen & Son CEO Knud Erik Hansen explains how the company is stepping up its commitment to the US market:
The US has always interested us and was actually one of our first export markets way back in the 1950s. After years of success and significant growth rates in the European market, we have chosen to invest heavily in our US activities to realise the huge potential and growth opportunities in the North American market. Establishing our new showroom is therefore only the first step in building up our organization in the USA …
We are expecting a great deal from this initiative and are looking forward to writing a whole new chapter in the multi-faceted story of this century-old, family-run company spanning several generations.
Thomas Vagner, President, Americas adds:
We can see that Americans are appreciating elegant and simple designs more and more. A prime example is world-famous Danish architect Hans J. Wegner with his legendary Wishbone Chair. We take American consumers seriously which is why we want to meet their need for shorter delivery times and greater flexibility.
The showroom is free of charge and open to the public by appointment only. To make appointment call 212.626.6842
